Les Miserables 1997 Gavroche JORDAN SIWEK

I was 7 years old when I first saw Les Misérables on Broadway.

I remember it being a very long show. But, as soon as I saw

the little French boy in the play I said to myself,

“wouldn’t it be great to be Gavroche someday!”

Two years later I auditioned for the part of Gavroche...

When I was 7 years old, and had just started in show business, my parents took me to see my very

first Broadway show - Les Misérables!             It was all music and singing, like an opera.

I remember it was a very long show.                  However, the story about a kind man who was unjustly

put in prison and ended up helping                  lots of people was very interesting and I enjoyed it very much.

When I saw the little French

boy in the play I said to myself,

“wouldn’t it be great to be

Gavroche someday.”

        Two years later I was

called to audition for the part

of  Gavroche..

I was lucky enough to get the part and stayed with the show for a year. Besides having a great experience and lots of fun I learned how a show like this is put together. I would love to tell everyone, from my point of view, why Les Misérables is one of the greatest and most successful shows in musical theater history. I would like to describe how the novel by Victor Hugo was turned into a musical, about the creators such as the composers, the directors, the producers, the makeup and costume people, the stage hands, and all the actors who became my best friends.    ( continued )
